Deepika's education career includes a Bachelor of Music, Vocal Visharad (First Class) degree awarded by Bhathkande Sangeeth Vidyapith Lucknow, India in 1990. She holds a Master of Arts (Mass Communication) Degree from the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka. Her thesis was a comprehensive study on Sinhala songs that were banned during the 70's, 80's and 90's.  The Government of Sri Lanka awarded Deepika with a Presidential Scholarship to continue her further studies to strengthen the music industry of the country.

Her career as a music teacher started in 1989 and it has been a successful, diverse and a rewarding service up to date. She continues as a Music Teacher in Vishaka Vidyalaya, Sri Lanka. During her teaching career she taught at Gorkana Vidyalaya, Panadura and Anula Vidyalaya, Nugegoda.  She received  the Best Trainer award at the  Western Province  School Music and Dancing Competition  organized by The Ministry of Education in 1992, 1998, 1999, 2001 and 2005. She also won the Best Trainer award at the  All Island School Music and Dancing Competition in 1998, 1999, 2000,  2004, 2006 and 2007. In 1992 her Aesthetic Institute, “Saundharya Shalikawa”, was established to extend her services to children preparing for local and foreign examinations in music. As a Music Director she has produced a number of  Children’s  musical programmes for radio and television channels.

Deepika has co-authored a book (a research study) titled "Traditional Characteristics of the Modern Son" which deals with various forms of poetry, song and drama of Sri Lankan culture. She co-produced an album of 20 popular songs  which is accompanied by a booklet that has lyrics and Western and Oriental music notations (the first of its kind in Sri Lanka).

Vishradh Deepika Priyadarshani is not just a voice— She is a unique artist who displayed a vision from the beginning.  She paved the way to meaningful popular songs that are applauded by generations for decades. She talks to people with love – “Kaviya oba” or “Numbata Inne Mang Vitharada”. At the same time she is a pacifist who sang “Saroja” which is hailed as one of the best peace songs in Sri Lanka.

All arrangements are underway to bring out for the first time, a yet untitled Biography of Deepika Priyadarshani written by renowned Journalist, Artist and Presenter Buddhadasa Galappaththi giving details of Deepika’s life and work. This is planned for the same day the news CD is being released at the BMICH on Saturday, 18th September 2010.

He was praised by critics for the themes and wording of his songs like "Vana Bamaru," "Bilinda Nelwa Ukule" and "Rosa Male." His other popular songs include "Lo Ad Giles Male Tarawa" and "Mariya Mawu Kuse."

MIDI Songs For H.R. Jothipala

Jothipala was born the first child of a middle-class family from Southern Sri Lanka.  He attended St. Lawrence College in Maradana and St. John’s College in Dematagoda. Jothipala would visit tea kiosks during this period to hear music as his family didn't own a radio.

Jothipala made his debut as a playback singer on Cyril P. Abeyratne's Surathalee singing, "Siriyame Sara," in 1956. Prior to this he had recorded a song for the late Sirisena Wimalaweera's Podi Putha. This song didn't make the final cut, as the Indian film composer on the film didn't consider Jothipala's voice good enough.

Jothi has said that he contemplated taking his life when he went with his friends to watch Podi Putha and found out that his song was not included. Later when Surathalee producer Jabir A. Cader wanted to hear one of his songs to consider him for the film, Jothipala almost passed on the offer as he did not possess enough money to create a record. He was helped out by veteran musician Stanley Omar who financed him for the sum of 35 rupees – a large amount of money at the time. Jothipala's song on the film, "Siriyame Sara," still remains popular in Sri Lanka, having recorded the popular number under the direction of T.R. Papa at Wahini Studio in India.

Jothipala has worked with many reputed directors of Sri Lanka. In the early stages of his prolific career, Jothipala got the chance to work with prolific film maker, Lester James Peries on the movie Sandeshaya. Jothipala sang the song "Puruthugeesikara" for the film, which was composed by the legendary Sunil Santha and written by veteran lyricist Arisen Ahubudu.

Jayaratne was born in Dodangoda, Sri Lanka. He pursued higher learning at St. Anthony's College and subsequently Maliyadeva College. As a teenager Jayaratne trained as a violinist.
In 1966 Jayaratne began work as a music teacher at the Hewavitharana Maha Vidyalaya in Rajagiriya. He was drawn into singing by the head of the Folk and Research unit at the Broadcasting Corporation C.J.S. Kulathilaka who asked him to vocalise several Sinhala folk songs that included "Gana Thel Sadun" to be broadcasted over the radio.He recorded his first song in 1970.
Jayaratne debuted as a playback singer with "Lahiru Dahasak" written by Sunil Ariyarathne and composed by Premasiri Khemadasa. In 1978 he released his first cassette Tharanga Volume - 01.
In 1980 Jayaratne dueted with Sunila Abeysekera on "Hemin Sare Piya Vida" for the movie Hansa Vilak. The song was written by W. Jayasiri with music by Khemadasa and became a popular song in Sri Lanka.

Jayaratne is married to Malini Jayaratne and has two children. His son Isuru intends to enter the music industry like his father

Patikirige Sunil Jayapreethi Edirisinghe (Sinhala:සුනිල් එදිරිසිංහ) (born December 19, 1949 in Colombo, Sri Lanka) is a critically acclaimed Sri Lankan classical musician.Edirisinghe won the presidential award for playback singing in 1983 for "Maya Miringuva Pirunu Lo Thale" from Adhishtanaya. He was awarded the Swarna Sankha Award for playback singing in 1988 for "Thurulaka Hurathal" from Mangala Thagga and in 1990 for "Walakulak Gena Muwa Karamu" from Saharave Sihinaya. He has also won the Sarasaviya Award for playback singing in 1988 for "Thidasa Pure" from Sandakada Pahana and in 2002 for "Poronduwa" from Poronduwa


Edirisinghe was born the youngest of seven children to Patikirige Edirisinghe and Ushettige Elizabeth Perera; he grew up in Waragoda Kelaniya amongst a blooming rubber industry.

Edirisinghe began his schooling at Sri Dharmaloka Vidyalaya in 1955. He moved on to Sapugaskanda Maha Vidyalaya in 1968 and subsequently Delgoda Kalyana Pradeepa Pirivena where he worked on his A/L exam

After completing his secondary education in 1969, Edirisinghe began working for the Government Printing Corporation. He debuted as a playback singer that year singing "Sandakada Pahana" for his brother Satischandra's film Matara Achchi. The song was composed by Victor Ratnayake and written by Wally Nanayakkara.

Edirisinghe studied music at Visharada P.V. Nandasiri's Academy of Music and University of Laknaw, India in the early 1970s. In 1975 Edirisinghe graduated with first class honors from the prestigious Bhathkhande Academy of Music in India. He joined the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation soon after. In 1980 Edirisinghe released his first cassette Chandra Mandala
